Fired Earth is Britain’s leading interior finishes company and is part of the Aga Foodservice Group plc. The company operates over 60 retail outlets around the UK and boasts a range of over 2,500 individual products.
Fired Earth first began working with Expense Reduction Analysts over two years ago when they asked Expense Reduction Analysts consultant Tony Catling to look at their stationery supplies. Following the audit, Tony reported to Alastair Watson, Operations Director, that Fired Earth was buying stationery very competitively. Alastair comments, “It was refreshing to note that we were buying our stationery very cost effectively.” Neil Stockton, Fired Earth’s Finance Director says, “Since then we have engaged Tony on several further projects and each time he has brought in other analysts from the Expense Reduction Analysts network who are experts in their own fields. For example, with assistance from Mark Davis and Duncan Barbour, Tony has saved us over £10,000 per annum on our courier costs.
Meanwhile, with the help of Expense Reduction Analysts’ consultant Nadim Vanderman, Tony has identified savings of over £12,000 per annum on our postage costs. We did not think postage savings were possible, but Nadim and Tony have helped us to cut these costs as well as reduce the amount of work needed in the post room.”
Following the success of these investigations, Tony then called upon fellow consultants Ashley Carr and Jonathan Hotopf to investigate Fired Earth’s communications costs. The changes they have instigated in this area have saved Fired Earth over £58,000 per annum. Fired Earth’s Neil Stockton is delighted, “We have been reviewing our communications costs for over two years now and have found it difficult to differentiate between the different companies trying to sell us cheap least cost routing.
The rates introduced by Tony and his team at Expense Reduction Analysts were far better than any other rate quoted. We are not experts in communications, and Expense Reduction Analysts has not only introduced us to much better rates but is also looking at how we use communications to further improve our operations.” Neil Stockton concludes, ”I would have no hesitation in recommending Expense Reduction Analysts to any company. What I like most of all is, if their analysts can’t find any more cost effective ways of doing things, then it’s unlikely we would be able to. Also, any fees charged come out of the savings generated without any risk to ourselves. The savings in time by using Expense Reduction Analysts is a significant benefit that is easily overlooked. To have all this, an increase in our bottom line and the knowledge that the situation will be monitored on our behalf, augurs well for our future relations.”
