comms and ITBT business has increased many business call costs from 1st December 2009, only a month after increasing line rental. For BT Standard, (ie non-discounted tariffs) call set-up is up to 8p, local peak up to 6.5p/min (up from 4p in April last year), and peak mobile up to 14p/min (+8%).

For BT Business Plan, all inland, mobile and international call costs are up c.20% for spending levels of £5,000/month and under. Currently, call prices for all One Plan variants appear unchanged, despite previously being similar to Business Plan.

Customers on some of BT’s most popular business packages also see the cost of calls rise as  the rounding duration of calls moves from 15 to 30-second intervals.

BT Retail Business customers should be very careful not to automatically “rollover” into a further period of commitment at the end of the present contract in these circumstances.

The rises support BT Retail’s move to encourage BT Business customers towards multi-product relationships to achieve maximum discounts with the resultant relationship “stickiness” based on a longer term contract.
