Ofcom have launched a review of landline-only rental charges. Despite declining wholesale charges, line rental has seen a steady increase over the past six years. Ofcom has raised concerns over the effects of this on elderly and vulnerable customers who have a reliance on their fixed line services.

Although this review stems from concerns for residential users, this is also a common issue in the business communications sector, with suppliers often increasing prices throughout the term of a contract.

ERA’s communications team are well versed in industry contract terms, as well as the tactics suppliers can employ to increase prices during contracts. This puts ERA in a strong position to mitigate against any inappropriate increases and challenge suppliers effectively.

A Green Paper is to be launched in 2017 by Ofcom examining how fair the current market is to end users. However, this is unlikely to review the business market and therefore unlikely in itself to result in reductions to businesses; for help with how you could still make this work for your organisation, please contact us for more information.
