In the latest Ofcom fine to be handed out, EE has been fined £2.7m for overcharging customers.

This follows Vodafone being fined £4.6m back in October 2016 for breaking Ofcom rules and not crediting pay-as-you-go customers after they had paid to top-up. EE overcharged customers for calling their 150 customer service number while roaming in the EU, as well as calls and texts to 150 within the EU being charged at higher rates following the reduction in the EU roaming rates.

ERA Communications specialist Pritesh Patel says “This latest Ofcom fine does not come as a surprise, as through the forensic analysis ERA specialists undertake for our clients, we find overcharging on most accounts! Indeed, ERA have recovered tens of thousands of pounds in credits for clients from mobile providers over the years.”
