Project specialist: Packaging, Paper
Richard has worked in the Packaging Industry for nearly 30 years, beginning at Scott Paper where he purchased £14.0m of Primary Packaging for leading brand toilet and facial tissue products such as Andrex. His role had to ensure that all the packaging was not just competitively priced but was of a quality that helped enhance The Company’s position as the market leader.
Next up was a 10 year period working for Wiggins Teape’s Packaging Merchant Division. Heading up the Purchasing team, a pan European supply chain was established with industry leaders such as ITW Mima, Sealed Air and 3M but whilst the sales strategy focused on selling high quality, branded, packaging materials, these still had to be purchased competitively to enable the company to achieve its profit and contribution targets.
Richard joined ERA Group in September 2001 and has helped grow the Packaging category across the network. During this time significant savings have been achieved for clients within both the Manufacturing and Retail Sectors. Benefits have also been achieved by working on a consultancy basis where he looks for solutions based on alternative specifications and processes that allow for greater efficiencies.
