Project specialist: Building and plant, Catering, Cleaning, Electrical & electronics, Facilities management, Gases, Janitorial supplies, Laundry, Waste & recycling, Workwear & PPE

Steve joined ERA in 2006 after 25+ years’ experience gained in blue chip multinationals and his own consultancy business. Steve has delivered results to his clients in the manufacturing, distribution, sports & leisure, professional services, contracting, and public services sectors.

He is part of ERA’s Buildings, Plant and Facilities Maintenance team, and specialises in soft FM services (Cleaning, Security and Manned Guarding, Concierge, Porterage and Washroom Services), and Building & Industrial Consumables (Electrical, Plumbing, Engineering, Janitorial, PPE).

Steve uses ERA Group’s purchasing leverage and influence in the FM supply market to create and implement bespoke solutions. Steve’s projects deliver maximum savings and benefits without compromising service, ensuring that all solutions meet current and future business needs.

His expertise allows him to advise businesses on how best to manage their FM & Consumables spend to make savings. Capable of talking to suppliers on an equal footing in their own language, Steve is able to challenge supplier margins, negotiate new deals and plan new solutions.

Steve also provides advice on procurement processes to help streamline indirect purchasing costs. These tactics help to get around issues such as authorisation levels, stock availability, and delivery costs, leaving clients with superior service for less money.

By drilling into the granular detail of his clients’ spending and fully understanding where inefficiencies are, Steve can leverage the supply chain and develop bespoke solutions to ensure his clients receive optimal value from best-in-class service providers.

Steve’s key priorities at present include:

  • Protecting clients from significant cost increases in current and future FM Service contracts fuelled by annual National Living Wage increases, Brexit uncertainty, and recruitment issues, ensuring that suppliers deliver best practice and the most efficient, and innovative services, with highly motivated workforces.
  • Introducing clients to advances in the ‘Science of Cleaning’ – producing cleaner, healthier, working environments.
  • Introducing greener products with less environmental impact, whilst delivering excellent results, and complying with Clients CSR demands.
