Saving money never tasted so good for Country Park Foods

Based in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, Country Park Foods supplies chilled and frozen sausage, cooked meats (sliced, shaved or whole joints) and readymade meals to its customer base throughout the UK and Europe.

Country Park Foods uses quality Beef, Pork, Lamb, Turkey and Chicken in its cooked product range and sources the finest ingredients in its sausage and black pudding ranges. This ensures their customers’ customers receive a quality product at competitive prices. Higher Level Efsis accreditation ensures quality standards are inherent in the products supplied.

“Country Park Foods has always had a strong focus on cost control.” Financial Director Phil Jennings comments, “Country Park Foods has grown considerably over recent years and although my team has always been focused on getting best value, we felt it would be prudent to have an independent third party check that we were achieving the best possible prices for the high quality goods and services we require from our suppliers.”

Expense Reduction Analyst Julia Goodfellow looked at the initial project of labels. The project was not straightforward because the specification for all the labels changed a number of times, making it difficult to calculate savings. However, Phil requested that Julia continued to provide supply audit reports because he valued the impact they had in terms of keeping the suppliers on their toes. As a manufacturer of food, packaging is an essential component for Country Park Foods. Fellow Expense Reduction Analyst Neil Cullen carried out a detailed review on both Food Packaging and Cartons which resulted in annual savings totaling £92,000. Phil Jennings, Financial Director commented, “I am impressed with the level of savings, but it is not just about the money, I have also been impressed with how little of the company‘s time the projects have taken up.”

“Whenever Neil and Julia have been on site they are unseen and just get on with their work. The partnership with Expense Reduction Analysts has also reinvigorated our own cost saving activities, resulting in further savings in some of our core areas of spend. We are currently considering which areas we would like Julia and Neil to focus on next.”
